We should not have a government so powerful that it could do things like detonating nuclear explosions 250 miles above the Pacific Ocean. If there were no such things as powerful governments, then we wouldn't have nuclear weapons and nuclear arsenals capable of doing as much or more destruction than solar storms.
Washington and Madison tried to create a U.S. government that could never become that powerful. They failed. Too bad.
David, I never heard of either of those. The Carrington effect must have been frightening to people in 1869. This is very interesting because of a recent length article by Naomi Wolf. You are postulating that God might be due to intervene because of our depravity. Naomi Wolf published a lengthy piece suggesting that the insanity since 2020, is the result of "ancient pagan gods" (demons) that were kept at bay by monotheism but have been unleashed again. If I'm summarizing correctly, we all agree that the current woke world is in some regard evil. You warn of the possibility of Divine punishment. She sees the current madness deriving from spiritual evil. I'm going to write a piece rejecting all supernatural premises for human causes and flaws. Essentially, what I've been writing about, The Great Transformation from 1949 to 2024. I.e. CRISIS. I hope to keep it relative short.
That should be interesting. I read Naomi Wolf’s article as well. I don’t know of course what God might or might not do. I know people can do a lot of bad things without any supernatural help, so your article will be interesting. I know that a lot of people have not heard of either of those events though they are not secret. Good luck.
That’s amazing stuff. Not only are there so many fireballs and asteroids, but humanity can track it all. I sometimes visit the James Webb Telescope web site, to be dazzled and demoralized by the hundreds of billions of galaxies. A former student of mine works for NASA and has kept me informed.
Framed then by he ideas of Gary North we can easily understand Starfish Prime.
This book is the history of a deception. I regard this deception as
the greatest deception in American history. So successful was this deception that, as far as I know, this book is the first stand-alone volume to discuss it. The first version of this book appeared as Part 3 of Political Polytheism (1989), 201 years after the deception was ratified by representatives of the states, who created a new covenant and a new nation by their collective act of ratification-incorporation. This new covenant meant a new god. The ratification of the
United States Constitution in 1787–88 was not an act of covenant renewal. It was an act of covenant-breaking: the substitution of a new covenant in the name of a new god. This was not understood at the time, but it has been understood by the humanists who have written
the story of the Constitution.
Nevertheless, they have not presented the history of the Constitutional Convention as a deception that was produced by a conspiracy. The spiritual heirs of the original victims of
this deception remain unaware of the deception’s origins. Most of the
heirs go about their business as if nothing unique had happened, just
as the original victims did after 1788. But a few of the heirs rail against
the humanistic historians who have told the story of the new American nation: a “grand experiment” in which the God of the Bible was first formally and publicly abandoned by any Western nation. They have argued that there was no deception, that America is still a Christian
nation, that the Constitution “in principle” was and remains a Christian document, and it is only the nefarious work of the U.S. Supreme Court and the American Civil Liberties Union that has stripped the Constitution of its original Christian character. There is no greater deception than one which continues to deceive the victims, over two centuries after the deed was done.

And here I am watching “Serenity,” a cautionary tale on that issue.

Good tip on the Webb site.
