Yuri Bezmenov was a KGB agent of the Soviet Union who defected to West and ended up residing in Canada, at least that's the story, you never know with these spooks. A Wikipedia article says that he was a journalist, his official cover, but he later said he was an agent.

In 1970 he was stationed in India when he decided to defect to the West. India at the time was inundated with a plethora of western hippie types there to absorb the wisdom of India, so he changed his appearance to that of a hippie, becoming effectively invisible, then fled to Greece and contacted the US embassy there. Asylum was arranged in Canada under the elder Trudeau, where he then resided under the name given to him by the RCMP, Tomas D. Schuman. From 1973 to 1976 Bezmenov worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Montreal, broadcasting into the USSR until the Soviet ambassador to Canada told Trudeau to make him stop, so Trudeau did. Bezmenov died of a massive heart attack on January 5, 1993. (There are drugs that can be used to assassinate a person by causing a massive heart attack, but that would be a baseless conspiracy theory.)

He explains in his talk that the USSR had embarked on a plan of ideological subversion, a four step process. The first is called the de-moralization, which he claimed was completed, was to take over the educational system and induce philosophies in the youth such that a victim would be unable to make rational decisions concerning his own as well as the nation’s self defense. This was to be a fifteen to twenty year process since that's how long it takes to replace a generation, and it would include a massive under the radar injection of Marxist thought. He said that once it was begun it succeeded beyond their expectations as the educational system here became sort of infected and did their work for them. He claimed that an infected person would never be able to escape such brain washing, and anyone who has argued with a woke person might agree, and that the the ideological conversion of the next generation was now complete. I have two objections; I don't think it was complete, vast swathes of America escaped, and I'm not at all sure one cannot ultimately escape the brain washing; life has a way of beating you over the head with reality.

One wonders what manner of mindset an enemy might wish to inculcate into our youth so as to prevent them from making rational decisions about their own defense. They might want them to believe that women can be soldiers equivalent to men, and that they should be in ground combat units even though experience has shown this to be disastrous. You might want to convince boys that they are really girls in the wrong body so they can be changed in such a way as to not be useful for defense. They might attack the concept of masculinity by calling it “toxic masculinity” as a way to make the populace as a whole more docile. Basically, if the Woke believe it, it's there.

All manner of odd ideas might be given traction that would undermine the culture, and families would be targeted since families give people internal strength, and they know that soldiers raised without families may well not fight. They might similarly try to make as many boys as possible be raised by women. They might want to undermine the economy and the manufacturing base, and certainly do away with the right to self defense and the right to be armed.

Now that I've painted myself as a knuckle dragging throwback to the stone age, what I'm getting at is that much of the modern culture may be seen as the result of changes needed to prevent the nation from being able to make rational decisions about it's own defense. (Incidentally do you have any idea how much a resident of the stone age needed to know how to do?) This may be just another conspiracy theory, but we've all learned that the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is about six months.

The second phase lasts two to five years and is the phase of de-stabilization, where the economy, foreign policy and defense are targeted. The influence of Marxist ideas has come to fruition.

The third is the crisis phase, a few weeks of chaos and revolution.

The fourth and final phase is normalization, where the new regime is established, with totalitarian controls put in place. Big brother is now in charge.

So the question is, is our woke infection the result of this operation? Was the operation even real? Bezmenov himself might have been part of a disinformation campaign and never was a true defector, though I personally doubt it.

As I said, I think only about half of the country was infected, not the whole country as Bezmenov thought, hence our enormous divisions. How it will play out we are in the process of seeing now.
