The Left, and those seeking power generally, will use whatever the issues of the day are to advance their political position. Usually, whatever the issue, it is secondary to how it can be used to gain and maintain power. The issue may be a real problem, or it may not be one at all, it's importance lies in it's usefulness for acquiring and maintaining power.
Since the above is hard to read, this is what it says; "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H. L. Mencken
A sign that it is being used for power is that the problem never goes away, and indeed the solutions may appear to be designed to keep the problem going in perpetuity. Affirmative action, though maybe finally in decline, has been around for decades. It keeps racial tensions high since it is inherently unfair and racist, and also has the effect of sending it's beneficiaries into untenable positions. Why is it better to fail at Harvard than succeed at your state university? One begins to wonder if the whole point is to keep the race issue alive.
Consider the climate issue and the Club of Rome. Apparently, the Club of Rome was actually founded as a device for channeling power into the elite, with the plan of simultaneously convincing people to make altruistic moves to save the planet while frightening as many people as much as possible, all of which would help cement their control. Consider this:
Apparently, the Club of Rome decided to use the environment and climate change as a weapon to amass power in the hands of the elite. Since the climate is forever changing it's a never ending source of useful issues, and it seems to spawn daughter issues endlessly. To many cows producing methane, to many people, for instance.
Of course, the powerful trying to maintain their power and trying to amass more isn't exactly new, they've been doing it forever, and it's at the very heart of politics, the game of power and influence. We must all simply be aware that that is often what is going on.
Many individuals are honestly enamored with the issue in question, whatever it is. Many really believe that life on planet Earth will end soon if drastic action is not taken, basically calling for concentrated power for the political elite. Many genuinely believe that affirmative action is making the country better.
One factor that you may notice is that the solutions to all problems must be government solutions. Never shall a decrease in official power be used to solve anything. For instance, at one time airline pilots were required to carry handguns if there was U.S. mail on board, so in effect they always did. (Most pilots were ex military anyway, and they simply had them in their carry on bags, not on their hips.) Rules slowly changed, going to optional until, not too long before 9/11 they were completely banned. After 9/11 there was great resistance to allowing pilots to be armed, and was done only with great regulation. Why were the regulations that had allowed this to happen not simply removed? That would have not only somewhat decreased official power, it would have been in the way of increasing government power with regulations, body searches and no-fly lists.
Firearms ownership in general is used as a sort of universal blame shifter. If crime goes up it is blamed, if it goes down due to civilians being armed it is not acknowledged. It is in the way of the ambitions of the politically powerful, so it is endlessly used as an issue, with appropriate distortions. I put emphasis on firearms in these essays because they are real power in the hands of the people.
After the Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990 school shootings began, but the act was not then rescinded. While an obvious reason would seem to be that the shootings are desired by the powerful to cement their power; (School shootings. Pass a law legally prohibiting the adults in a school from protecting the children, wait for the occasional nut case, blame Republicans and guns, never mention said law, rinse and repeat. Frequently talk about school shootings on the news so the nut cases never forget.) it may simply be that the solution can never be a non-governmental solution. If so, it highlights a remarkable lack of imagination of the powerful to not see that people will suspect that the shootings are allowed for political purposes. For that matter, does the NRA really want to win and lose all of that income, or do they want they issues to go on forever?
"The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule." ~ H. L. Mencken
Masculinity has been under attack for some time, presumably so as to produce a docile populace. Many school teachers have taken the attitude that boys are flawed girls and should be treated as such. More recently boys are not just flawed girls, they are said to be girls in the wrong body and should “transition” so that their lives will be forever ruined, and girls are said to be boys in the wrong body. TV shows and movies now routinely show men as foolish and weak, with a woman being shown as wise and powerful, able to beat up a whole biker gang on her own. These things are false issues leading to power for the elites. Why undermine masculinity?
"When men evaluate each other as men, they still look for the same virtues that they'd need to keep the perimeter. Men respond to and admire the qualities that would make men useful and dependable in an emergency. Men have always had a role apart, and they still judge one another according to the demands of that role as a guardian in a gang struggling for survival against encroaching doom. Everything that is specifically about being a man-not merely a person-has to do with that role." ~ Jack Donovan
This kind of thinking is not appreciated. How are you going to control a nation where the men think like that? When I was in fifth or sixth grade, one winter the school's heavy equipment produced an enormous mound of snow on the playground. The boys from the two classrooms immediately began a king of the hill competition, gleefully throwing each other off of the top. It was wonderful, but they made us stop. Probably safer that way, but that is in the nature of boys and men.
"I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within." ~ Douglas MacArthur
Morality of all kinds has been in decline, whether it is intentional or part of a natural decay is unclear, but the entertainment industry does to morality what it has done to masculinity. The constant increase in atheism and scientism has undermined it. People will do things that they wouldn't if they felt subject to a higher power, and the undermining is at least partially by means of issues that are not really the issues.
"History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster." ~ Douglas MacArthur
I do believe that the "toxic masculinity" BS is in the same vein as taking away standardized tests for school kids, as legalizing marijuana, as confusing kids about their gender, as keeping the poor comfortable in their poverty with govt. hand-outs, as using entertainment and other media to normalize immoral behavior - it's all about keeping as many people as possible from gaining agency, critical thinking, self-sufficiency, and self-reward...all to keep them endlessly compliant with whatever crap the elites are pushing.
And regarding that last great quote, I pray we are headed toward a spiritual reawakening. As dire as things seems to be right now, I do see hints of that renaissance everyday. More people are finding their way to or back to their faith in God, more people are awakening to the perpetual problems caused by a lot of govt policies, more people are abandoning a political party paradigm (the uniparty system) and turning to common sense and practical solutions and a meritocracy. More parents are speaking out at school board meetings and are homeschooling. And without a doubt, millions more people around the world are awake to all the lies and deception we have endured for throughout our lives. In my estimation, we are actually more poised than at any other time in history to rise up against the evil elites who actually rule the world.
We have to remind ourselves that we are now warriors and we will not let them get away with the hellish atrocities they have inflicted on humanity.
As you often wisely say - stay brave, stay free.
