An article on Saul Alinsky by the Left leaning Wikipedia:

Saul Alinsky was a Leftist from Chicago, and an associate of Barak Obama, and he described how a powerful organization could move a country into Socialism. He also wrote a book entitled Rules for Radicals, a famous set of ideas concerning tactics of revolution. Many of you are already familiar with both of these. If so, I won't hold it against you.

How To Create A Socialist State
by Saul Alinsky
1) Healthcare — Control healthcare and you control the people
2) Poverty — Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt — Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control — Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare — Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).
6) Education — Take control of what people read and listen to — take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion — Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.
Class Warfare — Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.
If this sounds evil it's because it is. For the Communists that's all right because the final results are so wonderful that the costs (usually a few million dead plus a nightmare existence) are worth it. The ends justify the means.
In the Soviet Union doctors were employees of the State, while in the U.S. your doctor works for you. (The Covid experience undermined this.) Even though your payments may come from an insurance company, you may fire your doctor if you want. Socialized medicine changes that so that the State is his employer. Unapproved thoughts and actions may change your priority status and even cost you your life. Sarah Palin was ridiculed for saying that socialized medicine would lead of necessity to death panels, but it's hard to see how they could be avoided. (No doubt they would be given a pleasantly sounding Orwellian name.)
Intentionally creating poverty is evil indeed. It's not just that poor people are at risk of being tempted by all of the Socialist goodies, being poor leaves one with an inability to operate and defend and protect oneself, and I don't mean just in terms of defense against criminals. You can't afford lawyers, you can't travel, it's hard to own a home or even repair one, so you are dependent on landlords. It's difficult to even buy a gun, but if they require a permit to carry it that's another barrier.
High debt moves the government towards collectivist positions. As Alinsky said, it creates more poor, but it also creates a crisis atmosphere that leads to heretofore unthinkable governmental actions.
Gun control, certainly. A nation of riflemen cannot be tyrannized, but the unarmed can be loaded into boxcars. (Note that the Second Amendment may be undermined not only through gun control, but also by denying the people military training, hence we no longer have the original militia system.) Note that Alinsky used the term “defend themselves”. This can be taken to be much broader than just weapons, such as using lawfare. The powerful have to tread lightly with an armed populous, and illegal or immoral laws may just be ignored. Furthermore, people in an unarmed society develop a mindset that, well, there is nothing we can do, we are just subjects, so they are more fearful, hence controllable. Alinsky states outright that this is to create a police state.
People on welfare have been captured, being dependent for food, housing and ultimately life itself. (The ultimate of welfare would be everyone simply living in barracks in a pseudo-military sort of way, all orchestrated from the top.) This can be fought be instilling self reliant attitudes in the young and teaching them self reliant skills, so that, if being on welfare becomes necessary, they get off of it as soon as possible. Rush Limbaugh would opine that one should judge a welfare system by how good it is at getting people off of it and back to work.
Education does seem to have been taken over in the manner described. I doubt that even Alinsky expected that it would mean children reading child porn. Public education is currently in full child warping mode. More people are home schooling than ever, and using private and religious schools if they can afford them. Children are taught that the U.S. is the most evil country in the world.
If you can minimize religion people become fearful and more easily controlled, and since people generally crave a purpose in life and want to be part of something larger than themselves, they might just migrate to wokeism. Atheism fosters the belief that there is no power on Earth greater than the State, and there is no higher power that might intervene. Furthermore, religious leaders sometimes have a nasty habit of standing in the way of immoral policies and swaying large groups of people.
The class warfare is now not only dividing rich and poor, but people are being divided on ideological grounds; those seeking the brave new world of a socialist utopia, and those who want to live free. Dividing people is a basic tool of 5G warfare.
Hillary Clinton, as Hillary Rodham at the time, did her senior thesis on Alinsky's plan. The Wikipedia article says that she disagreed with it, but mostly because she thought it wouldn't work. We cannot know what is or was in Hillary's mind, or how her opinions changed over time. My own opinion is that she is more in favor of using these techniques than she let's on. She does seem to be one who desires power, and these rules are power distilled. The way the U.S. looks at the present time is consistent with them being in play.

Despite public positions, including Hillary's, it really looks like our country has suffered an attack by Alinsky's plan. The schools, the debt, the disarming attempts and attacks on the general right of self defense, the attacks on religion, constantly pushing government control of healthcare, increasing poverty, increasing divisions of Americans. If they were not used it's a pretty good coincidence. We also seem to be suffering from the application of the 45 Communist goals for the destruction of America. I talked about that in a short Substack essay:

These two things together give them a real twofer, but I don't think any politician will admit to supporting them. We who are not in the Big Club (It's a big club, and you ain't in it) are like those investigating accidents or explosions with no witnesses. We can only try to piece together the story by examining the carnage and piecing together the meager clues. The state our our country is what we must examine. The Alinsky method and the 45 Communist-goals-for-the-destruction of America are clues. If they were not used, how would our country be different?
Looks to me like we are about 80% socialist already. I am surprised he didn’t also encourage funding neocon wars in Ukraine and Israel since it’s key to our debt levels.
I believe the epicenter of Left-Wing movement is coordinated from Chicago. The radical U of Chicago, Alinsky, Weather Underground, Jesse Jackson, Hillary, Obama - all have their roots there.
