The subset seems rather large to me. But I don't have any facts. All communism has ever brought is misery, starvation and an early or quick death. Unless you're in the inner party.
Like zinoviev in Reds or a murderer like Pasha in Dr. Zhivago. There are plenty of people alive now in the USA who would, without a thought, do what Vasily Blokhin did at Katyn forest.
Resistance to Tyranny is a good book. That is where I learned about operation trust. I should have known that already. I wrote a review on the Mental Militia, which has been gone for years now.
Claire Wolfe has a few books along the freedomista side.
From experience, communists will bitterly contest the figures in Professor Rummel's book. And they will contest this as well, " Communism has the property of concentrating a great deal of unaccountable power in the hands of a few."
According to communists, the only evil country in history was Germany 1933-45. The reality is the democide gold metal is shared by Russia 1917-1989, present day China, Cuba, North Korea and Cambodia during Pol Pot. Throw in eastern Europe as well. And yet communism is still a political ideology that people champion. Surely next time they'll get the worker's utopia that communism promises. The people who don't want to live in the hive will just be killed or sent to the gulag where they'll be killed.
We won't mention that though. But we must always call someone a nazi.
Two good movies are Reds and Dr. Zhivago that are worth watching.
I remember seeing the ccp fortified line between Kowloon and communist china and thinking that isn't there to keep people from escaping into communist china.
Somehow there is always a hopeful subset of the population that thinks Communism is a good idea. It doesn’t seem to matter that it’s always been a deadly failure, it’s like a religious belief with them.
from what I’ve read none of the communes set up in the sixties and seventies in the US survived. They always failed because the communist idea doesn’t work on any level. How long did the commune survive when CommieBernie was kicked out of a commune for being too lazy or something?
Excellent work, David. When we understand that there truly are evil people in power who wish us dead, the things we have experienced in the last few decades make much more sense.
